USA Softball pitching rules
USA Softball sets no pitching limit. Not pitches, not innings, not appearances, not rest days. I read USA Softball, Official Rules of Softball — 2026 Participant Manual (1-12-2026), Rule 6A, Rules Supplement 40, Rule 2 Sec 1, Divisions table, Rule 12, Safety Guide on 2026-09-10 to check, because every summary I could find online disagreed with at least one other summary — and an absence is the hardest thing to confirm from a search result. This page records where I looked, so you can judge the answer rather than take it.
That is not a gap in the rulebook. It is how most softball organizations work: the decision belongs to your league. So whatever your league requires is the rule, and if your league requires nothing, nothing applies.

USA Softball's playing rules govern championship play. In league play they are adopted locally and may be modified (Rule 12), so your league's bylaws govern.
Your league is the rule
With nothing set nationally, whatever your league's bylaws say is the whole of it — and leagues vary widely. A survey of fifteen published league and tournament rule sets in September 2026 found per-game caps ranging from two innings to nine, weekly caps from six to thirty, some leagues counting outs rather than innings, and eleven of the fifteen publishing no limit at all. There is no common figure to quote you.
So the honest thing a planning tool can do is ask you and then hold you to your own answer. Even Innings does that: tell it once what your league requires and it tracks and enforces it everywhere — the lineup sheet, the arms box and the practice plan — and prints on the sheet that the limits are yours, not USA Softball's.
Even Innings is a planning aid, not a compliance system. It cannot know what happened in a game, and it does not replace your rulebook or your league's own bylaws. Always confirm current-year specifics with your own league.
